Internet Book Communities

Spring Snows are so inevitable in Wyoming that I don’t know why I am surprised that it’s snowing today. It’s a good day to stay in and write, check email, and I admit, goof off a little.

While taking a break, I decided to check Ruby Among Us out on the internet book communities like Good Reads, Shelfari, and Library Thing. There are a few reviews up about Ruby on Shelfari, but so far nothing yet on Good Reads or Library Thing. Of course it’s really too early to expect reader reviews since the media copies are the only copies out, but I was wondering how many readers use these sites to choose books. Do you? Do you post reviews on these sites?

I will occasionally post a review, although my time to review books has decreased drastically as my writing prioritites have increased. I do still like to browse occasionally and get good ideas about books I might like to read myself.

Here are my links. If you happen to be a member of one of these sites and want to add Ruby Among Us to your reading list, be sure to invite me to be your friend on the site:

  1. I read reviews on blogs more than on these sites, though sometimes I get recommendations off of these sites in the groups.

  2. Hi Amy. I am not surprised to hear you read the blogs more. I think the communities are interesting, but haven’t really taken a strong hold yet, like blogs have. Still, I think they are probably a good way to connect and meet other readers.
