Our Library Foundation recently hosted the “Murder He Wrote” book bash in Cheyenne, Wyoming to benefit the award-winning Laramie County Library. We were honored to have two Edgar award winning novelists highlight our event.
Here I am with T. Jefferson Parker (LA Outlaws and Storm Runners ) and C.J. Box (Blue Heaven, Blood Trail, and the upcoming Three Weeks to Say Goodbye).
C.J. Box is a local novelist of much renown, both in Wyoming and Nationally. His books climb higher on the best seller lists with every book and we are all so proud that he is from Cheyenne. It was great to have him be part of this event. Best selling author T. Jefferson Parker, who I believe is the only author to have ever won two Edgar awards, was a bonus for our wonderful community who showed up in droves to support the library. The Murder He Wrote event was a hit, complete with toe tags and evidence bags as party favors.
Ruby Among Us looked to be in peril in the silent auction basket donated by the library. Bless the person who bought it.
On a side note, one item included in the silent auction was a set of autographed books from authors who have appeared at our wonderful library. Included in the basket, of course, were books from Parker and Box, and believe it or not…Mio. I really got a kick out of seeing Ruby Among Us in the silent auction basket with Parker’s and Box’s. They kindly voiced concern their books might somehow taint mine. It did look awful “sweet” next to theirs.
It’s not everyday we have two such accomplished authors like Box and Parker together in the same room at a library event. The audience enjoyed visiting with both Box and Parker who were reported to have gone fishing the following day.
To learn more about these authors and their books, visit their websites: C.J. Box Site and T. Jefferson Parker Site. My husband has read almost all of Box’s books and loves the Joe Pickett Series. We both just finished Blue Heaven and loved it. I plan to read LA Outlaws soon, although I hope it’s not scary!
