Some of you have heard about this beautiful cover and know these characters well, but if not, here it is! 

I’m so excited about this release. Out of all the books I’ve written, the characters of Ruby Among Us have stayed with me the most. 

In my mid twenties, I lived in California where I went to college and fell in love with the weather. It’s where I met real poets, writers, and people who loved art. We went to poetry readings, met at coffee shops, and wrote in notebooks. 

That period of my life is also where I fell in love with bookstores, coffee, and the Sonoma Valley. It’s also where I got my heart broken, making room for the seeds of this novel to germinate. 

No novel is specifically about the author. I am none of the characters, but I definitely believe that it was that time period in my life that enabled me to write about the themes in Ruby Among Us.
